  • At the end of April every year the Neusiedler See area turns into a hot spot for the surfing community, when the Surf World Cup marks the beginning of the summer season for surfers and sailing enthusiasts.
  • With some 320 square kilometers of ice Lake Neusiedl draws ice surfers and yachtsmen even in winter.
  • Shallow waters (approx. 1.60 meters) and favorable wind conditions (landward) ensure outstanding surfing and yachting especially for children and beginners.
  • The strong north-westerly breeze and more gentle winds from the south can build waves of up to one meter.
  • Despite its shallow waters, Lake Neusiedl is known for its unexpectedly high waves and therefore makes a dorado even for ambitious surfers, yachtsmen and kite surfers.

  • The Neusiedler See Running Park offers incredible 49 signposted routes for runners and nordic walkers while the scenic Nordic Walking Panorama Park Neusiedler See, the Running & Walking Arena Seewinkel – Heideboden or the Rosalia Area boast varied trails for all ages and abilities.
  • Along the Neusiedler See routes there is a lot to discover: don't miss a visit to the "Hölle" and to varied Castles, take a look at the White Donkeys and the Lange Lake Bird Preserve. What's best, quaint taverns are spread all over the area.

In the course of December, lake Neusiedler See is covered with a thick layer of ice: welcome to central Europe's biggest natural ice skating rink! Leave your surf board at home and bring your skates or try ice surfing and ice sailing. Great fun and action for all ages guaranteed. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts enjoy a 15 kilometer long Nordic track which is perfectly groomed all winter. Right at the beginning of the cold season you can watch the graylag geese pass by – up to 30,000 Nordic geese spend the whole winter in the Seewinkel national park, depending on the weather conditions. After a cold winter day in the outdoors, you are warmly welcome to the St. Martins Therme spa center offering marvelous sauna parlors and thermal pools with healing thermal water. Ultimate relaxation during your winter holiday on lake Neusiedler See also awaits you at the Marienkron Kneipp center or on a pleasant guided hike through the Seewinkel national park.
